First City's FirstStart Piggy Banks Lead to Hospital Donation

LOS ANGELES–First City Credit Union, through its FirstStart Piggy Bank promotion, raised and donated $6,000 to various area hospitals

The credit union donated $3,540 to Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, $1,320 to Los Angeles County (LAC) +USC Medical Center Pediatrics in Los Angeles, $720 to Antelope Valley Hospital in Lancaster, and $420 to Huntington Hospital in Pasadena. The donation to Children’s Hospital LA was matched by CO-OP Financial Services’ Miracle Match program.

During June First City members opening a FirstStart Kids Savings account received a piggy bank, with First City would making a $5 donation in their name to an area hospital of their choice.  Other members who did not open an account could make an individual donation to receive a piggy bank.

“In the end, we were pleased that the initiative helped to deepen member relationships, increase FirstStart saving accounts, and raise money and awareness for our hospital sponsors,” said First City Credit Union CEO Terry O’Steen.
