BURNSVILLE, Minn.– Firefly Credit Union employees participated in a school supply drive during August. Items were donated to local non-profit agency, 360 Communities, that hands out thousands of school supplies to children in need around our community every year.
Across the country, more than 30 million students are enrolled in the free and reduced meal programs; and many parents are unable to provide the basic school supplies their children need to be effective. Firefly employees came together to help support these students, and every glue stick and pack of crayons made a difference.
Employees received a list of the most-needed items to kick off the drive and by the time it came to an end, nearly 400 supplies had been donated.
“Firefly is always willing to help support the students in our community by making sure they have the resources needed to learn and thrive in the classroom,’ said Bill Raker, President/CEO of Firefly Credit Union. “Like many things in life, if we all work together and contribute even the smallest thing, like a folder or backpack, we can accomplish something great.”
