BURNSVILLE, Minn. –During March, Firefly Credit Union employees contributed to the Minnesota FoodShare by collecting more than 2,500 pounds of food and donating $4,269.13. Together the credit union’s donations totaled 6,786.3 dollars/pounds.
According to Minnesota FoodShare, its March campaign “provides more than half the food distributed by 300 food shelves throughout the state.” The annual campaign has existed for more than 30 years, and each dollar donated goes directly to Minnesota food shelves.
“It is unbelievable to think that our employees have donated more than four tons of food to such a great cause over the past four years alone,” said Bill Raker, Firefly President/CEO. “I am always astounded by their generosity and interest in supporting our community.”
During March, Firefly hosted several internal events to encourage donations among employees. Events included a silent auction, a Walking Taco Lunch, “Casual for a Cause” Fridays, and a Cram-the-Cubicle event.
