Firefly CU Celebrates Credit Union Youth Month

BURNSVILLE, Minn.–Firefly Credit Union celebrated Credit Union Youth Month throughout April by hosting a youth financial education seminar, offering youth account opening bonuses and a prize giveaway.

Firefly offered $25 to those who opened youth checking accounts and $10 to those who opened youth savings accounts. In April, 197 new youth memberships were opened with more than $362,500 made in deposits to youth accounts.

As part of youth month, Firefly held a financial education seminar, Personal Finance 101 for Children, with more than 15 attendees. Youth learned about the importance of budgeting. They also brainstormed good questions to consider when making purchases such as “Can I afford something I would want more later if I buy this item now?”

“At Firefly, we take pride in educating youth about personal finance,” said Bill Raker, Firefly Credit Union President/CEO. “We are proud to provide both members and youth in the community with resources for financial education as well as products to help build financial management skills as they grow and enter new stages in life.”
