FedChoice Gives to People in Need

LANHAM, Md.–FedChoice Federal Credit Union brought in the New Year in a big way, by giving to people in need.

The winter season brings freezing temperatures, and many children in the local community aren’t able to protect themselves from the cold, the credit union said. FedChoice helped to address this problem by buying a brand new coat for every new membership account that was opened in December. That’s more than 100 children with new, warm coats.

FedChoice partnered with local organizations to make sure the coats were delivered to the children who needed them. A longtime member, Dr. Prophetess Pamela Spencer, runs Heaven’s Helpers Ministry in Landover, Maryland. Her ministry was able to take 50 of the new coats. These coats were given to families the same day that they were purchased! Through the month of December, FedChoice was able to purchase 60 more coats to spread throughout the community. 25 coats will be distributed by Turning Points for Children in the Philadelphia area.

And, the FedChoice season of giving didn’t stop there! Another local organization, So Others Can Keep Striding, also known as S.O.C.K.S collects socks for distribution. FedChoice put S.O.C.K.S boxes in each of our Financial Service Centers so members and employees could fill them with new socks for homeless men and women in the Philadelphia and Washington, DC Metro areas. Through the S.O.C.K.S. campaign, 509 pairs of socks were collected and distributed.

Being a part of the community is important to FedChoice. Serving our members and fulfilling the needs of our local communities are equally critical to our mission as a Credit Union.
