COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.--Michael Fansler, Aventa Credit Union’s former Chairman of the Board of Directors, has retired.
His relationship with Aventa Credit Union, at the time known as Colorado Springs Credit Union, started in 1961 when his dad opened an account for him when he was 15 years old. His journey onto the Board began while employed by Colorado Springs Utilities, when his supervisor suggested that being on the credit union board would not only open the doors for other opportunities, but give him the opportunity to do bigger and better things.
Fansler was elected onto the Board in 1968 and in 2000 served as Chairman of the Board and served in that position for 19 years. In those five decades, he has dedicated himself to his fellow Board members, Aventa Credit Union associates and thousands of Credit Union Members, the CU said.
During his 50+ year tenure at Aventa Credit Union, starting on February 7, 1966 as a 20-year old serving on the Supervisory Committee, he has held the positions of Treasurer, Vice Chairman and Chairman of the Board. Fansler has also served on the Board of Directors for the Colorado State League, as well as various other credit union related organizations.
