GRAND BLANC, Mich. –ELGA Credit Union (ELGA) celebrated the grand opening and ribboncutting of its 14th branch location. The Grand Blanc, Mich. branch has been the $1.1-billiondollar credit union’s most requested location for the past 20 years, and is the first part of a two-part project on the property.
ELGA said it also expects to open its new headquarters at the same location in the first quarter of2022.
“We’re finally here and excited to be opening our doors to the Grand Blanc community,” saidKaren Church, ELGA CEO. “After 20 years of member requests and five years of searching, weknew this property was the perfect spot for our new branch and headquarters.”
In addition to opening the new branch, ELGA is celebrating another banner year in supportingthe community. Associates continued volunteering, supporting organizations with more than3,500 volunteer hours. The credit union said it provided more than $250,000 in monetary support to community based organizations and non-profits. ELGA stepped up to the platequickly to secure more than 700 Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans for member businesses, infusing the local economy with $37 million and saving local jobs.
“We have supported the Grand Blanc community for quite some time, despite not having abranch here,” said EVP Terry Katzur. “With the opening of our newest branch and theanticipated opening of our new HQ in 2022, I’m happy to know that we’ll be making an evenbigger impact, specifically for the local businesses in our new neighborhood.”
