SPARKS GLENCOE, Md.–The Education Foundation of Baltimore County Public Schools honored First Financial FCU for its commitment to championing education in the local community.
Each year, the Education Foundation celebrates those who create opportunities and improve outcomes for students, educators, and classrooms. This year, the Foundation honored First Financial with two awards of distinction.
The Education Foundation named First Financial as its Community Partner Volunteer of the Year 2020 for volunteering and freely giving time to the Foundation to advance the Baltimore County Public Schools community. The Foundation also selected Youth Outreach Manager, Cindy Jones, as 2020's Board Member of the Year for her leadership, governance, and dedication to recruiting volunteers and advancing philanthropic goals.
“We are honored to be recognized by the Education Foundation of Baltimore County Public Schools, and appreciate the opportunity to contribute to our community in an impactful way,” said Eric Church First Financial president/CEO. “These awards are further affirmation that First Financial believes not only in doing what is expected, but also in doing what matters. And we’re very proud of Cindy Jones for her outstanding work, dedication and commitment to supporting this cause that is at the very heart of our organization.”
First Financial’s support for the Education Foundation was multifaceted, including volunteer support for the Foundation’s Exchangeree program, allowing district teachers to obtain much-needed school supplies. The credit union also provided a $5,000 donation for the Foundation’s Relief in Securing Education initiative, which aims to meet the growing need for curricular materials during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond, providing equitable access to critical educational resources and support for online learning.
For its August school supply drive, First Financial provided more than $1,000 in school supply donations for the Education Foundation of Baltimore County and Carroll County Public Schools to support students in need.
Other First Financial initiatives throughout the year have benefitted not only the Education Foundation of Baltimore County, but also education initiatives, programs and causes throughout the greater Baltimore area.
