BEAUMONT, Texas–Using funds raised by employees as part of the Blue Jean Friday Fund, through which employees can wear blue jeans on Friday for a $2 donation, Education First Federal Credit Union raised over $13,700 this year.
The recipients of the 2020 funds are:
- Some Other Place
- Family Services of Southeast Texas
- Ubi Caritas
- Garth House
Employees committed $4,213.89 to Some Other Place to underwrite its Christmas meal and to help fill Christmas stockings for seniors in our community. The employees at EFFCU went a step further and volunteered to serve the Thanksgiving and Christmas meals this year.
Employees also committed $2,000 to Family Services to help stock their Christmas store, so that children can select gifts to give to their mothers on Christmas.
Employees also gave $3,000 to Ubi Caritas to support their mission to provide diapers for new mothers and to provide diabetic test strips to newly diagnosed diabetics in its area.
And EFFCU adopted three families through Garth House, providing Christmas gifts for the children as well as $200 VISA gift cards for each family.
