BURTON, Mich.–ELGA Credit Union Foundation for Impact and Michigan State Police (MSP) held their 11th annual "Stuff a Blue Goose" event benefiting The Salvation Army's Toy Shoppe.
The festive occasion set the stage for a season of giving by raising $31,819.57 and collecting 1,011 toys loaded into Michigan State Police cars, known as the "blue goose." All toys will benefit local children.
"I am thrilled by the incredibly generous gift that will impact our mission. This year, we have over 1800 children who need our help giving them a memorable Christmas," said Major Randy Hellstrom with the Salvation Army. "This collaboration with ELGA's Foundation and the MSP is wonderful, and I am moved to tears by their kindness. The Salvation Army is honored to be the recipient, and we couldn't ask for better partners than ELGA and the Michigan State Police."
ELGA CU said the community's generosity was on full display; this year was no exception. Despite challenging weather conditions, dedicated law enforcement agencies, including Grand Blanc Township PD, Grand Blanc City PD, Burton PD, Michigan State Police, and ELGA volunteers, stood outside to collect for children.
Volunteers collected new toys and monetary donations at 13 ELGA Credit Union locations throughout the event. The collaborative efforts of Salvation Army representatives, local law enforcement, and ELGA associates “brought forth an inspiring display of community spirit that will bring smiles to children all over Genesee and Lapeer County on Christmas morning,” the CU said.
