BURTON, Mich. – In a drive hosted by ELGA Credit Union, residents of Genesee and Lapeer County communities stepped up to save Christmas for children in need this year by donating $16,020 and 1,469 toys to the Stuff a Blue Goose toy drive.
This annual event is hosted by ELGA and Michigan State Police (MSP) to benefit the Salvation Army’s Toy Shoppe. Every penny raised and toy collected will provide Christmas for children right here in our local community.
“This is our 8th year hosting Stuff a Blue Goose. With this record-breaking year it’s hard to find the words to express how grateful I am to our community for helping us rescue Christmas for children in need," said Cheryl Sclater, public relations manager for ELGA Credit Union “I am blessed to live and work in a community where people are so generous and caring.”
“I look forward to this event every year, and the response from our community in times of need is overwhelming,” said Trooper Steven Kramer of the MSP Flint Post. “Putting a smile on a kid’s face and making them happy is always something I enjoy being part of, and I know we’re doing that by helping local families make Christmas happen.”
Donations were collected at 13 ELGA Credit Union locations by local police and fire departments, along with ELGA associates and Salvation Army
