Dupaco Community CU Celebrates International Credit Union Day

DUBUQUE, Iowa— Dupaco Community CU is celebrating International Credit Union Day today, the CU reported.

Dupaco was also officially chartered 76 years ago on July 17, 1948, by its ten founding members. They established the credit union on the principles of thrift, access to affordable credit and the opportunity for its members to own and control their money on a democratic basis, aiming to improve their economic and social conditions, the CU noted.

"Dupaco and its more than 600 employees are proud to serve over 170,000 members throughout all 50 states, District of Columbia, U.S. Virgin Islands and 26 other countries," said Dupaco President/CEO Joe Hearn.

“Dupaco is more than local, it’s a financial cooperative, owned by its community of members,” said Hearn.  “As we celebrate International Credit Union Day, I’m proud of Dupaco’s legacy and the positive impact the credit union has had on our members and the communities we serve.”

While financial products and services have evolved over the financial cooperative’s 76 years, Dupaco continuously seeks to enhance value for its member-owners. The cooperative achieves this in a variety of ways, including product, service and technology enhancements; unique programs like its award-winning Thank Use program, which has paid out more than $29 million in bonus dividends since 2016; branch convenience; staff expertise and service; higher savings rates; lower loan rates and fees; and more, the CU said.
