MIDLAND, Mich. –Twenty employees of Dow Chemical Employees Credit Union participated in the Adopt-A-Highway program. Teams of DCECU employees spent the afternoon cleaning up the shoulder of a nearly three-mile stretch of both eastbound and westbound US-10 between the Stark Road and Eastman Road exits, picking up enough waste to fill more than 70 trash bags.
“Giving back to the community is part of the DCECU philosophy, and the Adopt-A-Highway program is just one of the ways we like to do that,” said DCECU President/CEO Dennis Hanson, who was among the credit union employees to participate in the cleanup. “And with many people about to travel through the area via US-10 to reach summer vacation destinations, spring is the perfect time to clean up the shoulders of the highway and help Midland put its best foot forward.”
DCECU employees will complete another Adopt-A-Highway cleanup on the same section of US-10 in late September. In mid-May and mid-September, a number of employees will clean close to a mile of the boulevard area near the credit union – between East Lyon and East Patrick roads, from Pine Street to Washington Street, including around the bicycle and pedestrian path that runs through the boulevard.
