Dow Chemical Employees CU Engage In Numerous Service Activities

MIDLAND, Mich.– In recent weeks, staff members and management from Dow Chemical Employees’ Credit Union have engaged in three different service activities in Midland: assisting with a Habitat for Humanity project, clearing trash from a section of boulevard near the credit union and cleaning up litter along US-10.

* Habitat for Humanity Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative. Members of the credit union’s management team were among the 600 community volunteers for Midland County Habitat for Humanity’s 2015 Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative, which rehabilitated the exteriors of 25 homes in Midland’s Fournie Park/Central Middle School neighborhood. The DCECU volunteers spent time painting homes and staining decks.

* Boulevard Cleanup. For the second time in six months, DCECU employees cleaned almost a mile of the boulevard area in front of the credit union. They picked up trash and other debris between East Lyon Road and East Patrick Road, from Pine Street to Washington Street, including the area around the bicycle and pedestrian path that runs through the boulevard.

* Adopt-A-Highway. In another of the credit union’s recurring volunteer projects, DCECU employees cleared litter from the median and shoulder of a nearly three-mile stretch of US-10 between the Stark Road and Eastman Road exits on both sides of the highway.

“We encourage our staff at all levels to give back to the community through volunteering,” said DCECU President/CEO Dennis Hanson. “It is heartwarming to see how many of our employees take advantage of the service opportunities we provide.”
