Dow Chemical ECU Donates iPads To Community

MIDLAND, Mich.– A fleet of mobile digital devices retired by Dow Chemical Employees’ Credit Union will now play a role in helping address and prevent child abuse and neglect in the local community.

DCECU recently donated 35 factory-reset iPad mobile digital devices – many of them only very gently used – to CAN Council Great lakes Bay Region, a nonprofit organization that offers prevention education, intervention and advocacy programs and services for children and families in both Saginaw and Bay counties.

“Through its breadth and depth of programming and services, the CAN Council is serving the community in ways that are deeply impactful,” said DCECU Executive Assistant to the CEO Susan Phillips, who helped arrange the donation. “If anyone can put DCECU’s retired iPad devices to work in a way that makes a difference, the CAN Council can.

According to CAN Council President/CEO Suzanne Greenberg, the iPad devices will serve a variety of purposes across the organization, including being used as response tools during interactive workshops, to collect survey and evaluation data from clients and program participants, as waiting-room time-passers for children receiving CAN Council services, and as registration and checkout terminals for CAN Council fundraisers and events.
