Denver Community Staff Spend Day Volunteering

DENVER–All Denver Community Credit Union employees volunteered across Metro Denver during their 3rd annual all-staff volunteer day on Monday Oct. 14th.   On #DenverCommunityGives Day, Denver Community staff volunteered a combined 439 hours with six local non-profit organizations, which is an estimated $12,300 in cost savings for their non-profit partners.  A special service project they completed was renovating the Children’s Area at Metro Caring so they can start offering childcare for the families they serve.

“Metro Caring works with our community to meet people’s immediate need for nutritious food while building a movement to address the root causes of hunger,” the credit union said. “Through their impactful work, Metro Caring provides 100 families a day with healthy groceries and distributes 10,000 pounds of nutritious food daily. The renovations of their Children’s Area will improve access to services for the children and families from our community when they visit Metro Caring.”

The majority of Metro Caring clients work more than one job and struggle to make ends meet due to the cost of living in Metro Denver, the CU added.

“This new Children’s Area will allow Metro Caring to move forward with a full childcare program on a regular basis and afford parents and families with young children the ability to participate fully in their programming knowing their children have a safe, properly supervised area to play.”

Denver Community Credit Union was recently recognized as a Civic 50 Colorado Honoree and Company Category Leader by CSR Solutions of Colorado and Points of Light, the world’s largest organization dedicated to volunteer service.
