WASHINGTON--Democracy Federal Credit Union has received the America Saves Designation of Savings Excellence for Credit Unions, which acknowledges credit unions that reach new heights to encourage people to save money during America Saves Week. America Saves recognized credit unions that do exceptional work to promote savings among their members and communities.
Democracy FCU was one of 19 credit unions selected nationally and recognized for exceeding expectations in educating members about life expenses, budgeting and saving techniques. Democracy FCU educational materials were delivered throughout the week using multiple channels, including one-on-one financial counseling sessions, informative educational workshops, emails and social media.
“Educating members on ways to save, reduce debt and build wealth is what we strive for all of our members. Supporting and rallying behind the America Saves Week was a perfect fit for us,” said Kathy Geary, president/CEO.
Democracy Federal Credit Union, along with the other recipients of the Designation, were recognized at the America Saves National Savings Forum and received a Designation of Savings Excellence seal for their website.
“For years, banks and credit unions have participated in America Saves Week by offering products and services that encourage individuals to save money and build wealth,” said Nancy Register, National Director of America Saves. “America Saves launched the America Saves Designation of Savings Excellence in 2015 that recognizes credit unions that go above and beyond to promote and support saving during America Saves Week. This year we are proud to recognize and announce the second group of credit unions that achieved this designation.”
