Democracy FCU Meeting Celebrates New Chapter

WASHINGTON-- Democracy Federal Credit Union hosted its 79th Annual Business Meeting and Financial Fitness Fair inside The Great Hall – Hubert H. Humphrey Building here. In attendance were Democracy FCU’s board, members and Democracy staff.

The meeting was led by Board Chairman Patricia Ellis, who noted, “On January 1, 2015 when we became Democracy FCU we began a new chapter in our storied history.  While our name is new, we bring the best of our past with us:  that is the unwavering commitment to help our member-owners achieve financial freedom.  We still exist solely to serve our member-owners.  That will never change.”

This year's Annual Meeting, the first since unveiling its name change to Democracy FCU, introduced a new format to the annual business meeting. Following the review of the DFCU’s performance, there were several guest speakers and a “Financial Fair.” The featured keynote speaker, Michelle Singletary, author, Washington Post Columnist and Financial Empowerment Speaker, focused on educating attendees on the value of saving, budgeting and taking advantage of the different services and products the credit union offers.
