WASHINGTON– Democracy FCU embraced the credit union principle of “People Helping People” and aided Louisiana flood victims by collecting donations and funds. Democracy FCU stationed a large box at each Branch with lists of items that Louisiana needed for the clean-up and everyday life. Staff and members donated non-perishable foods, cleaning supplies, toiletries and school supplies that were shipped to the Louisiana Credit Union League for distribution.
In addition, Democracy FCU collected cash donations totaling $1,150 that was sent to the National Credit Union Foundation’s disaster relief system. Staff and members were extremely excited they could help Louisiana in their time of need.
