Dedication Ceremony Held at SECU Advance Community Health

RALEIGH, N.C. – A dedication ceremony was held for the new health center in Southeast Raleigh – SECU Advance Community Health. The ceremony brought together community leaders and supporters for the celebration, including representatives from SECU Foundation and State Employees’ Credit Union (SECU).  SECU Foundation Board member McKinley Wooten, Jr. spoke at the dedication highlighting Credit Union members’ support for the initiative.

A $500,000 grant to Advance Community Health helped fund the construction of a 35,000-square-foot medical facility and renovation of a campus building, expanding healthcare accessibility for those in need.

Advance Community Health, formerly Wake Health Services, is part of a nationwide network of Federally Qualified Health Centers established in the late 60’s as part of the War on Poverty.  As one of 34 non-profit, community-directed organizations in the state, Advance Community Health works to remove common barriers to care by serving communities who otherwise confront financial, geographic, language, cultural or other barriers.  The campus offers a comprehensive range of primary healthcare services, including dental, behavioral health, nutrition and pharmacy, as well as drug assistance and healthcare programs for the homeless.

“SECU members understand the significant impact this project will have for many North Carolinians,” said Wooten.  “The enhanced capacity and expanded services provided through SECU Advance Community Health will help forge a deeper connection within communities that will result in positive health and economic benefits for those in need.  We are proud to be part of bringing a new medical facility to Southeast Raleigh – one that will provide greater access to primary healthcare services for underserved citizens in our state.”
