Dakotas' CUs Raise More Than $7,000

FARGO, N.D. – The Dakota Credit Union Foundation held its 6th Annual Golf Scramble at Rose Creek Golf Course here.

Nearly 80 individuals making up 20 teams made their way through the popular course, enjoying camaraderie, networking, and a chance to win $10,000 if they scored a hole-in-one on hole #7.

At the end of the day, even though no one was able to capture the big prize, fun was had by all – and more importantly, the foundation raised approximately $7,000 (after expenses) that will be used to provide financial literacy programs, scholarships for professional development, and certification for financial counselors, according to the Foundation.

In addition, $2,010 was raised for Sanford Children’s Miracle Network Hospital from sales of Play Yellow items, mulligans, and extend-a-putts. The foundation then added $1,990 to bring the final donation to a nice even $4,000.

“Having such a great turnout for our annual event is certainly encouraging as we continue to build on the momentum we have realized over the past several months,” said Darla Schafer, foundation board chair and manager of Flasher Community CU. “With 15 grants, scholarships, and other donations already made from our Foundation coffers this year, the income from this event will replenish our funds and allow us to continue to make an impact on the financial well-being, and even the physical well-being, of more Dakota residents.
