MIDLAND, MICH.– Staff at Dow Chemical Employees’ Credit Union wrapped up their regular “Jeans Day” fundraisers for 2014, bringing their yearly fundraising total to approximately $5,000. In addition to the one-day Jeans Day fundraisers throughout the year – which brought in a total of approximately $3,000 in donations – staff members also organized their fourth annual “Pink Out” silent auction this fall to support Cancer Services of Midland, which raised nearly $2,000. The most recent fundraiser was a Jeans Day benefiting the Michigan Credit Union League Legislative Action Fund (MCULLAF). For each Jeans Day fundraiser, participating credit union employees donate a minimum of $5, which entitles them to wear blue jeans, tennis shoes and logoed attire to work that day. The employees have raised money for various charities and community organizations, including Habitat for Humanity, the American Red Cross, the Coleman Veterans’ Memorial, Ronald McDonald House Charities, the Humane Society of Midland County and many others.
Not only do the employees organize regular fundraisers to show their commitment to their local community, but they also regularly volunteer their time – from helping with Habitat for Humanity’s Women’s Build and Neighborhood Revitalization Program to participating in the Adopt-a-Highway program.
