MIDLAND, Mich.–For the sixth year in a row, readers of The Midland Daily voted Dow Chemical Employees’ Credit Union as the No. 1 credit union in the newspaper’s 2020 Readers’ Choice Awards. It also marks the 14th time in the last 15 years that DCECU has received the honor.
DCECU also was voted the area’s No. 1 Mortgage Lender for the second consecutive year.
“Six consecutive years as the area’s favorite credit union and two years in a row as the favorite mortgage lender in the Readers’ Choice Awards is an honor for us indeed,” said DCECU Chief Executive Officer Michael Goad. “The fact that this recognition comes directly from the community that we strive to serve – not just financially, but also personally and socially – makes it particularly meaningful.”
In terms of community outreach and engagement, DCECU noted it recently contributed $200,000 to local COVID-19 relief efforts; gave $100,000 to support flood relief efforts in the region; supported Garber Chevrolet Midland’s “Stuff the Bus” event, which collects school supplies for early childhood programs throughout the county; and collected food and personal care items to support local pantries.
Employees also have routinely volunteered at The Bridge Food Center and Midland’s Open Door and participated in community cleanup and home-building projects, among other community service endeavors.
Since 2000, DCECU noted it has also given back more than $193 million to members, including more than $20.5 million for 2019.
