HOUSTON–Cy-Fair FCU has announced the winners of its Extreme Classroom Makeover competition, awarding nearly $2,000 to several Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District (ISD) teachers.
The competition is designed to honor educators who show a commitment to their students, and would benefit from a classroom update to enhance the learning environment and experience.
This year, three Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District (ISD) teachers received $500 to update their respective elementary, middle or high school classrooms in order to maximize learning and promote student participation. The credit union also awarded $150 to three runners-up.
“The Extreme Classroom Makeover competition is designed to let our local teachers know that we see and appreciate the amazing work they pour into our kids,” said Cy-Fair FCU President and CEO Cameron Dickey. “And we want to honor that commitment and passion by beautifying and updating their classrooms to enhance their learning spaces, for them and their students. Cy-Fair FCU and the Cypress-Fairbanks ISD have a rich history, so we jump at any opportunity to invest in our local schools and support our teachers.”
This year Cy-Fair FCU distributed the awards before an audience of the recipients’ peers at the annual Cy-Fair ISD Teacher Conference. Each recipient received a special mention before the keynote address of the conference.
The competition began 11 years ago and Cy-Fair FCU has now awarded nearly $20,000to local teachers for classroom makeovers.
