GLENDALE, Calif.–Credit Union West will be participating in Military Saves Week, which takes place Feb. 26-March 2. Military Saves Week is a national campaign that encourages active duty military members to save, and create a financially secure future.
The annual event is coordinated by Military Saves, a non-profit organization that’s an extension of America Saves, in partnership with the Department of Defense’s Financial Readiness Campaign.
The campaign provides educational information to motivate active duty military members and their families to take the Military Saves pledge. Savers are encouraged to follow a three-step process: Set a Goal, Make a Plan and Save Automatically.
Locally, Luke Air Force base will host events during the official Military Saves Week, and additional events on Saturday, March 3 for participants to learn the benefits of saving, reducing debt and building wealth.
“Helping military families learn financial principles empowers them,” said Bob MacGregor, Credit Union West’s President and CEO. “And, giving them the resources to implement that knowledge allows them to build a more secure future. We’re proud to be a consistent contributor to Military Saves Week.”
In addition to providing financial educational support, Credit Union West will display banners near Luke AFB to raise awareness of Military Saves Week and will encourage pledges by special promotional offers and prizes.
Capping off the week, the credit union’s educational workshops, Understanding Your Credit Score and Tips for Vehicle Buying, will be featured at Fighter Country Partnerships’ Financial Expo held at the Wigwam Resort on Saturday, March 3. The expo is an opportunity for active military members to gather more financial resources, attend financial workshops and have the opportunity to win prizes.
