FERNDALE, Mich.– To help members dispose of confidential paperwork, Credit Union ONE hosted two document shred events at its Grand Rapids branch and Macomb branch. More than six tons of paperwork was collected, with the shredding service free to members. Credit Union ONE said it collected nearly $400 in donations to help support Beaumont Children’s Hospital.
The CU hosts free document shred days in the spring and fall, to encourage awareness and help members securely destroy confidential material to deter potential identity theft and fraud.
“Identity theft is a real and ongoing threat, so we try and provide a means for our members to dispose of their confidential information at a no cost way,” said John Kozich, Vice President of Community Relations for Credit Union ONE. “ We are happy to provide this free service to our members, and they appreciate and participate each time we have the events."
