Cornerstone Community CU Raises Funds for Hospital

AUBURN HILLS, Mich.–In recognition of September’s Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month, Cornerstone Community Financial Credit Union hosted “Creating Courage,” an art-and-crafts materials and creativity kit gifting fundraiser.  The program benefitted patients at Children’s Hospital of Michigan (Detroit and Troy, Mich.) and Ebeid Children's Hospital (Toledo).

CCFCU asked its members and the community-at-large to purchase a variety of new creativity-centric items, including craft and jewelry-making kits, crayons, coloring books, STEM activity kits, Play-Doh and more from public “Wish List” gift registries created by the hospital teams.

CCFCU then matched every public gift purchase, item-for-item, to double the total donation. CCFCU teams delivered more than 1,100 new arts-and-crafts gift items to the hospital locations, where they are being used in inpatient units, playrooms, waiting areas and patient gift closets.

Creating Courage is CCFCU’s 6th annual program supporting Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month and the hospital partners.  Each year, a new themed collection is donated to patients, with previous programs gifting teddy bears, Lego sets, toy ride-on vehicles and more.
