Consumers Credit Union Announces New Financial Empowerment Center

AURORA, Ill.--Consumers Credit Union celebrated the Grand Opening of the new Financial Empowerment Center, located within SD129’s West Aurora High School.

The new location, aimed at providing financial literacy resources to the staff and students, will host informational seminars as well as a variety of educational opportunities for the district.

“Providing financial education resources to students will help them the rest of their lives,” said Sean Rathjen, CEO of Consumers Credit Union. “This is a natural, and beneficial, extension of the longstanding partnership with School District 129.”

Dr. Angie Smith, SD129 Associate Superintendent of Operations & CCU Board Member, said the center is a highly anticipated addition for the school, and elaborated on why investing in projects that make financial education accessible is so important.

"We are excited to further expand our partnership, which began under the leadership of the Kane County Teachers Credit Union and has continued to grow as part of Consumers Credit Union. As a CCU board member, I am proud of our service to the students and staff of School District 129. As a district administrator, I am grateful for the opportunity for our students to gain real-world experience, for our school community to access financial literacy resources and products, and for our district to receive continued financial support through the affinity credit card program and internal purchasing cards.”
