Consumers Cooperative CU Awards $50K in Scholarships

GURNEE, Ill.–Consumers Cooperative Association (CCA), sponsored by Consumers Credit Union, awarded 20 $2,000 scholarships, along with an additional $10,000  scholarship in honor of former CCU President William (Bill) Reidel, during its 51st Annual Meeting in Gurnee. The recipients, all high school seniors, can use their scholarships at the college or university of their choice.

“Consumers Cooperative Association is excited to announce our twenty-one scholarship winners,” said Kathleen Crews, CCA Chairman. “We are thrilled to award these scholarships to support our young people in their educational and career goals. Encouraging their pursuit of higher education is the primary driver of our scholarship program. We’re confident these students will achieve their dreams as they transition from high school to college, and ultimately become the leaders of tomorrow.”

The 2021 Scholarship winners include: Alexis Valdovinos (Waukegan High School); Amir Mustafa (Lake Community High School); Athanasios Prokos (Maine South High School); Crystal Mathew (Homeschooled); Emma Ward (Homeschooled); Griffin Moon (Elkhorn Area High School); Kadra Balla (Mundelein High School); Kaitlin Bruchert (Grayslake North High School); Katina Christofferson (Johnston High School); McKenzie Moe (Jacobs High School/Summit High School); Meghan Fox (Warren Township High School); Michelle Silva (Cristo Rey St. Martin); Misael Miranda (Warren Township High School); Nicholas Guerentz (Cary Grove Community High School); Nicolas Frank (James B. Conant High School); Olivia Liera (Andover High School); Perry Foster (Christian Life School); Rosalyn Randall (Lake County Baptist School); Ryan Kiddle (Lakes Community High School); and Sanjay Shrestha (Vernon Hills High School). The 2021 William (Bill) Riedel $10,000 honorary scholarship winner is Mauricio Cisneros of Mundelein High School. Congratulations to all winners!
