Connex CU Supports Food Bank

HAMDEN, Conn. –Connex Credit Union joined with the Connecticut Food Bank as it hosted its 29th annual Stuff-A-Bus Thanksgiving event. With support from local iHeartMedia  radio stations, the non-profit organization collected non-perishable food items and monetary donations at the Hamden Plaza for the approximately 270,000 people struggling with hunger in the six counties it serves.

Committed to supporting its surrounding communities, Connex Credit Union proudly participated for its seventh consecutive year with a donation of 25 whole turkeys and $1,000.

“The holiday season should be filled with happiness and love but, for some families, it is an unfortunate reality that it is often spent worrying about basic necessities that many of us might take for granted like putting food on the table for Thanksgiving,” said Louise Nestor, director of marketing, Connex Credit Union. “It is a privilege to be part of a credit union that does everything it can to honor the true spirit of the holiday season and help make this time of year a bit merrier for those who need it most.”

The annual Stuff-A-Bus event is just one of numerous community initiatives that Connex participates in throughout the holiday season as part of its ConnexCares philanthropic program. Currently, the credit union is also collecting monetary and household item donations for a family in need that was relocated from an unsafe situation by the New Reach organization. Both members and non-members of the credit union are invited to support this cause by bringing items to any of Connex’s eight branches before Dec. 12.
