Connex CU Helps Support New Reach

BETHANY, Conn.– Connex Credit Union donated $1,000 and more than 600 new household items to New Reach—a non-profit organization helping build hopeful futures for those experiencing homelessness and poverty in Connecticut.

As part of its annual holiday drive and ConnexCares philanthropic program, Connex CU said it collected donations throughout December for a single mother of two who was recently removed from an unsafe domestic situation by New Reach.

To help this family re-establish themselves in their new home, Connex encouraged members, staff and residents of the local community to bring basic household items such as kitchen, bathroom and bedroom supplies, as well as toys and gift cards, to any of its eight branches. The holiday drive was so successful, Connex reported it not only supported the original family but was also able to contribute a variety of excess items to other families in need within the New Reach program.

“We cannot put into words how truly grateful we are for the overwhelming support we received and the selflessness of everyone involved,” said Carl Casper, executive vice president and chief operating officer. “It truly warms our hearts to see a community band together around the true spirit of the holiday season and help change the lives of families in need.”
