DES MOINES, Iowa–Community Choice Credit Union said it continues to make a large impact in the Des Moines metro community, most recently by bringing awareness to mental health and leading fundraising efforts to support MercyOne’s House of Mercy, the leading provider of mental health, substance abuse and addictive disorders support services in Iowa.
Community Choice conducted a month-long campaign focused around mental health awareness leading up to the House of Mercy’s Annual Fundraiser, The Game Show Gala, held on Thursday, June 13th at the Community Choice Credit Union Convention Center. The campaign included fundraising events, a silent auction, external engagement around the topic and a social media contest that would require Community Choice CEO, Josh Cook, to wear a Scottish/Irish kilt if they hit their fundraising goal.
“One-in-four people will develop a mental illness in their lifetime. That’s one-in-four of your friends, your family members, your co-workers, your neighbors. Creating unexpectedly delightful experiences for our members and our communities goes beyond financial health. Community is not just in our name, care for community is part of who we are,” said Josh Cook, CEO of Community Choice.
Cook participated in the game show style event, representing mental health and leading Team Abby to victory, setting a new record for both overall team total ($47,215) and surpassing the event goal by more than $100,000 with an impressive event total of $502,055.
