WARNER ROBINS, Ga.–Combined Employees Credit Union has been selected by the League of Southeastern Credit Unions as a winner of a Louise Herring Award in Georgia.
The Herring Award recognizes the credit unions for returning $9,000 to its communities made possible by $9,000 grant.
Combined Employees CU said it was just about to debut a loadable debit card program in which it had invested in 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic shut everything down.
According to CEO Robert Glore, Jr., the COVID grant allowed the CU to provide a little extra cash for 180 of its members; to successfully launch the loadable debit card program, and to help people take notice of its fledgling Facebook page.
As a result of the award, the credit union said it was selected as Business of the Month of August by the Perry Chamber of Commerce.
