Columbia CU Recognized for Philanthropy

VANCOUVER, Wash. – Columbia Credit Union has been recognized for Corporate Philanthropy by the Portland Business Journal as one of the Portland area’s most generous companies, being ranked #2 in the Journal’s large business category for cash contributions in 2019.

This is Columbia CU’s fourth consecutive year of recognition. In 2019, the credit union contributed $383,000 to community initiatives while serving 1,332 volunteer hours on area boards, commissions and community events.

“We’re incredibly proud to be ranked #2 in the Portland Business Journal’s Corporate Philanthropy Large Business category,” said Columbia Credit Union President and CEO Steve Kenny, “especially among the great work being done by all the companies listed. It’s an honor to be recognized for doing good in the community and making life better.”

The Portland Business Journal’s rankings are based on 2019 donations to Oregon and SW Washington nonprofits. Among those recognized in the large business category, a combined $3.1 million in cash contributions to Oregon and SW Washington nonprofits were recorded in 2019—a 13% increase from the previous year.

In the spirit of making life better in the community as the holidays approach this year, Columbia Credit Union said its participation in the KPTV Toy Drive through December 13 will help deliver thousands of toys to kids across Portland and SW Washington, while their sponsorship of Making Life Better Day at Thorntons’ Treeland on December 5 will provide discounts for families picking up their Christmas tree.
