RALEIGH, N.C.– United Way of North Carolina recognized Coastal Credit Union and other corporate partners during its virtual Spirit of North Carolina Awards event. Spirit of North Carolina Awards event. The credit union was honored with the award for Investment in Long-Term Impact.
Coastal’s recognition stems from its ongoing support of United Way of the Greater Triangle, which includes:
- The annual employee giving campaign, which saw more than $95,000 in pledges to support United Way through payroll deductions.
- Coastal Credit Union Foundation’s $100,000 grant to the Rapid Response Fund, which provided area residents with emergency food, hygiene, childcare, and housing assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Coastal’s initial $25,000 grant to the 10 to Watch Program, which is addressing racial, gender, and power disparities in nonprofit leadership.
“We’re grateful for Coastal’s partnership and their strong commitment to community every year, but especially throughout the course of this global pandemic,” said Eric Guckian, president & CEO, United Way of the Greater Triangle. “Their gift to United Way of the Greater Triangle’s COVID-19 Rapid Response Fund was one of the largest and most impactful for our neighbors in need. They are exceedingly deserving of this state-wide honor and I’m proud to do this work alongside them.”
