RALEIGH, N.C. –The Coastal Credit Union Foundation hosted and sponsored a one-of-a-kind event – The Power of Sharing - highlighting the efforts of 13 area nonprofits. Coastal’s business partners and the Foundation awarded a combined $419,500 in charitable grants and in-kind giving to organizations that are making a significant difference in our communities.
Award recipients from this second annual event were recognized with a Power of Sharing award and also received an IBM Impact Grant, allowing for their leadership to attend IBM’s Web Presence and Social Media Strategy and Planning Session, valued at a combined $32,000.
To conclude the awards, Winkie La Force, the retired president of Leadership Triangle was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
The Power of Sharing was created in 2016 to bring different business partners together to demonstrate their commitment to bettering their communities through a collaborative funding forum. The goal was to recognize the tremendous impact that local non-profits are making throughout the community.
“It’s one of the key things I’ve learned by making a career in cooperatives. We’re all connected. We can all be lifted by collective success,” Coastal Credit Union CEO Chuck Purvis said in his closing remarks. He later added, “Remember that we’re all in this together, and that a community is bound together by what it shares.”
Partners in the awards include AT&T, BASF, Blue Cross NC, Citrix, Duke Energy, IBM, and Lenovo. WRAL’s Debra Morgan served as emcee.
