RALEIGH, N.C.– At a ceremony at Coastal Credit Union headquarters here, the credit union awarded $50,000 in total to five area nonprofits and the individuals who nominated each in its 50 Forward contest held earlier this fall.
The nonprofits received $5,000 each while, in a surprise twist, their respective nominators also received $5,000.
The winning charities are:
- The Public Gallery of Carrboro
- Beginnings for Parents of Children Who Are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- First NC Robotics
- CHHS Philharmonic Foundation
- Raleigh Rescue Mission
The contest ran from August 31st to Sept. 22nd through Coastal’s Facebook page. Participants were asked to identify a nonprofit within the 16 counties where Coastal does business, and briefly describe why the nonprofit was deserving of a donation, and what it does that is meaningful to the person nominating it.
“Coastal has operated in this community for 50 years and we thought what better way to celebrate our longevity than by giving back,” said Brandon McAdams, VP Marketing and Product Development. “Each nonprofit selected is more than deserving of the award they have received, and adding the element of surprise for each nominator just made this contest that much more fun to execute. It truly speaks to our motto – We Share.”
