RICHMOND, Va.– The We Promise Foundation of Chartway FCU has made a $125,000 grant to the Make-A-Wish Greater Virginia, a nonprofit that grants life-changing wishes to children in Virginia diagnosed with critical illnesses. This grant will help fund the wishes of approximately 25 children this year in the Tidewater region.
“Research shows that wishes have the possibility to give kids the hope and strength they need to continue in their battles for health,” said Sheri Lambert, president and CEO of Make-A-Wish Greater Virginia. “Granting life-changing wishes for children would not be possible without the generous support from partners like the We Promise Foundation.”
“Chartway’s We Promise Foundation strengthens the communities we serve by partnering with companion charities like Make-A-Wish Greater Virginia to provide the financial support needed to make dreams and wishes come to life for children facing medical challenges,” stated We Promise Foundation executive director, Karen Lane. “That’s why we’re honored make a difference right here in one of the communities we serve – bringing joy, hope, and smiles to approximately 25 courageous children through this partnership.
Make-A-Wish Greater Virginia has set the goal of granting 170 wishes this fiscal year. Since the organization’s inception in 1987, more than 5,000 life-changing wishes have been granted for local children.
