VIRGINIA BEACH, Va.–Chartway Federal Credit Union recently together with local leaders for two ribbon-cutting celebrations at local branches in Portsmouth, Va. and Suffolk, Va., which also included a special Wish Proclamation for four-year-old Parker in partnership with Make-A-Wish Greater Virginia.
The day kicked off in Portsmouth as Chartway celebrated its newly-renovated Olde Towne branch located within the Portsmouth City Hall building, alongside John Rowe, Jr., Portsmouth mayor; Lisa Lucas-Burke, Portsmouth vice mayor; and Shannon Glover, Portsmouth city council member.
Following that ribbon-cutting celebration, the credit union then hosted a second ribbon-cutting in Suffolk, Va. to celebrate its newly-constructed branch located within the popular Obici Place complex, which features a variety of shops and eateries. The event was attended by Leroy Bennett, vice mayor of Suffolk; Patrick Roberts, Suffolk city manager; Suffolk city council members Roger Fawcett and Michael Duman; Sheri Lambert, president & CEO of Make-A-WishGreater Virginia, and several members of Chartway’s board and leadership team. A special Wish Proclamation for four-year-old Parker was also made.
Parker battles Rheumatic Aortic Stenosis, a rare medical condition. Playful, funny, and full of energy, Parker wished to travel to one of Florida’s famous theme parks with his family – a dream that was granted thanks to a donation from Chartway’s We Promise Foundation and the work of Make-A-WishGreater Virginia.

We recognize the importance of a wish come true for these young heroes and the role it plays in helping them gain the fuel they need to continue fighting their illnesses.”
Chartway’s Obici Place branch marks the credit union’s return to the city of Suffolk.
Chartway’s Obici Place and Olde Towne branches feature modern, inviting, and engaging member spaces. Additionally, both branches offer Direct Teller technology – interactive machines that can be used as ATM’s or to connect with a live teller in real-time to perform a wide array of personalized transactions from the convenience of their car. Direct Teller machines also significantly improve drive-thru lines by reducing transaction processing times by as much as 50%.
