Charter Oak Recognized by United Way

WATERFORD, Conn.– Charter Oak Federal Credit Union has received the Corporate Sponsor of the Year and Corporate Benefactor Awards from the United Way of Southeastern Connecticut for its extensive financial and employee support of the agency's successful 2018-2019 annual campaign.

“We’re honored to receive these awards and we’re proud to continue our longtime support for all that United Way does each day to help those in need across southeastern Connecticut,” said Brian A. Orenstein, Charter Oak’s president and CEO. “We have very caring employees at Charter Oak who regularly roll up their sleeves and help out, whether it’s through their countless hours of volunteering for United Way events or giving very generously to the annual campaign. At Charter Oak, we really do believe in Living United.”

Charter Oak’s corporate support of the 2018-2019 campaign included grants to assist the Gemma E. Moran United Way/Labor Food Bank, sponsorship of United Way’s campaign kickoff event, as well as an additional gift of $3,000 to the food center to help celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2018.

During the 2018-2019 United Way campaign, Charter Oak had an impressive employee participation rate of 87 percent with employee donations exceeding $69,000. In addition, Charter Oak’s overall corporate support topped $20,000.

Charter Oak also was honored during United Way’s 2017-2018 campaign when it received the prestigious Chairman’s Award of Excellence for the credit union’s longtime partnership with the Gales Ferry-based United Way of Southeastern Connecticut.
