Charter Oak Donates $20,000 To Hospice Care

WATERFORD, Conn.–Charter Oak Federal Credit Union said it is standing behind another meaningful community initiative by donating $20,000 to the Center for Hospice Care.

The Center for Hospice Care, located in Norwich, has been serving Eastern Connecticut since 1985. It provides end-of-life care, and strive to maximize the quality of life for both the patient and the family. Their services extend far beyond the patient, including Expressive Arts programs for children and adults ages five and older. The Center for Hospice Care offers its services to the families it serves who have been affected by a loss, as well as those in the community who are seeking an alternative outlet to process the emotions related to loss.

“Our $20,000 contribution to the Center for Hospice Care will be allocated towards the development of the Hospice House,” said Brian A. Orenstein, Charter Oak’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “When completed, Hospice House will fulfill one of our region’s needs, and will enable patients to receive the end-of-life care that they deserve, without having to travel very far.”

Hospice House is unique in that it will be the first program of its kind in Eastern Connecticut. This special medical care facility will provide a home-like environment to its patients. The new building will feature 12 patient suites, a toy-filled playroom, library, cafe, and a chapel.
