Canvas CU Helping Collect Socks

LONE TREE, Colo.– Canvas Credit Union and University of Denver’s Dance Team are asking the local community and fan base to turn up the heat by donating socks that will be provided to the homeless.

Canvas CU said its annual sock drive has grown over the last two years, and this year it’s teaming up with its partners in Denver Athletics & Recreation to warm more toes.

“Our partnership with DU gives our annual sock drive a boost, all while bringing in some extra spirit and excitement with our friends on the Dance Team,” said Malcolm Johnson, Canvas Credit Union’s director of public relations and community involvement. “We’re hoping to beat last year’s total of 6,000 socks donated with our partnership.”

Why donate socks? According to the Salvation Army, socks are the number-one most requested clothing item. New and gently used socks may be dropped off at the Daniel L. Ritchie Center for Sports and Wellness at the west ticket office and Coors Fitness Center front desk or Canvas’ University Branch located adjacent the DU campus, or, beginning November 15 any of Canvas’ 26 convenient branch locations will accept donations through Dec. 14, 2019.

The conjoined Canvas and University of Denver Athletics & Recreation’s Dance Team will be delivering donated socks to our local Colorado Homeless Shelter, Denver Rescue Mission.
