Canvas CU Awards $46,000 in Scholarships

LONE TREE, Colo.–Canvas Credit Union’s philanthropic arm, Canvas Foundation, held a virtual scholarship banquet to award 36 students with a total of $46,000 in scholarships.

Canvas’ Community Scholarship Program seeks to award one well-rounded student in each of the credit union’s 29 branch communities. The award recognizes outstanding academic achievement, commitment and leadership in school programs, and active involvement in the community. Each scholarship provides a unique opportunity to partner directly with a local high school, and reward hard-working, talented students who lead with their hearts, both inside and outside the classroom, the credit union said.

The Canvas Foundation Scholarship Program provides two additional students the opportunity to be recognized and rewarded for their academic achievement, strong leadership, and high moral character. These scholarships are reserved for Canvas Credit Union members, and this year’s recipients include one college-bound high school senior, and one college graduate pursuing a doctoral degree.

During this unique time, Canvas said it had to pivot from their usual in-person celebration to a virtual awards banquet, but that did not stop the credit union from celebrating these young leaders. Alongside the virtual awards banquet, Canvas said it was delighted to offer each scholarship recipient a fun yard sign to commemorate their impressive achievements and to provide recognition in their community. Each honoree also was rewarded with a certificate of accomplishment and a Canvas-swag-adorned gift basket.
