California CU Helps Recognize 16 'Best' Teachers

LOS ANGELES – Sixteen public school teachers in Los Angeles County were recognized as the best of the best in a special ceremony made possible by the enthusiastic support of California Credit Union and the Los Angeles County Office of Education and other sponsors.

The educators, each deemed a top teacher among the 72,000 individuals who teach in the county, were honored with the titles of County Teacher of the Year. The 14 women and two men were selected by judging panels based on a variety of criteria, and honored by the Los Angeles County Office of Education. Each winning teacher received a $1,000 honorarium.

"This recognition program is a terrific way to recognize teaching excellence and focus attention on the tremendous work that teachers in Los Angeles County do to educate our children," said Ron McDaniel, CEO of California Credit Union. "It is our honor to support this program and shine a spotlight on some people who really deserve acclaim."

This is the 11th year that California Credit Union has supported the county-wide Teacher of the Year program. California Credit Union also serves the schools in Los Angeles and the region by providing teacher grants, scholarships, and a credit card program that channels cash back to schools and their support organizations.
