Cabrillo FCU Jons Feds Feed Families

SAN DIEGO–Cabrillo Credit Union joined the Feds Feed Families food drive during July, and between its four locations employees and members made it possible to contribute more than 1,700 pounds of food, benefiting the San Diego Food Bank.

The San Diego Border Patrol Sector partnered with Cabrillo Credit Union in order to collect more donations and make a bigger impact. Cabrillo Credit Union supported their efforts by leaving food collection boxes in each branch. Employees of the credit union alone collectively donated $1,000. At the end of July, the Border Patrol agents picked up boxes filled with food from each Cabrillo branch.

Feds Feed Families is a government-wide campaign that encourages federal employees to donate food, services, and time to food banks and pantries across the country. Since 2009, when Feds Feed Families launched, the campaign has collected more than 92 million pounds of food.

This is Cabrillo’s first year participating in the Feds Feed Families food drive.

“Giving back to the community aligns with Cabrillo Credit Union’s core values,” said Cabrillo CEO Michael DeShazo. “As the primary financial institution for those employed by the U.S. Border Patrol and other federal agencies in the San Diego area, Cabrillo Credit Union was happy to help serve our community in this time of need.”
