MADISON, Wis./WASHINGTON– The CUNA Finance Council has announced the winners of its 2019 Awards.
Recognized were:
- Steve Smith, CFO, Sharonview Federal Credit Union, Fort Mill, S.C., who was named 2019 Professional of the Year Winner, which recognizes an individual who exemplifies excellence in all in all aspects of their chosen profession, consistently excel for the benefit of their credit union, and the advancement of ideals of the cooperative movement. “Steve has consistently excelled for the benefit of his credit union and its members and believes in the advancement of the cooperative movement,” the Council said.
- Alan Wade, EVP/CFO, Member One Federal Credit Union, Roanoke, Va., who was named the 2019 Volunteer of the Year Winner. “In a member-led organization like the Finance Council, volunteers like Alan Wade are pivotal to the council’s success. The Volunteer of the Year award recognizes his many contributions to the CUNA Finance Council,” the Council said. “Alan has encouraged many colleagues to join or renew their Council membership. He is a booster in every sense of the word - his enthusiasm for the Council is simply infectious.”
- Ed Lis, VP, Finance & Compliance, First Choice Financial Credit Union, Gloversville, N.Y., who received the2019 Top Community Contributor Award. “Councils Community is our online networking platform, and it is a key element in keeping our members connected and engaged throughout the year,” the Council said. “This award is designed to showcase, and thank, someone who really embodies the collaborative spirit of the movement through their participation in the Community.”
