CUAD Awards CU Social Good Awards

BISMARCK, N.D. – The CU Social Good Awards, sponsored by Credit Union Association of the Dakotas (CUAD) were presented to two credit unions during the CUAD Annual Summit Awards Banquet that was recently held at the Delta Marriott Conference Center.

Recognized were:

  • $51 million-$200 million in Assets: United Savings CU, Fargo, N.D.
  • Over $201 million in Assets: Sioux Falls FCU, Sioux Falls, S.D..

The CU Social Good Award recognizes one credit union program per asset category that has positively affected the community and the North or South Dakota credit union movement. Any product, service, or project of a credit union is eligible for this award. Some of the criteria that are considered include the overall impact on the community; the commitment to working cooperatively with community partners; and evidence of the credit union philosophy of people helping people.

CUAD awards are judged by out-of-state employees at the Illinois Credit Union League, the Nebraska Credit Union League, and the Minnesota Credit Union Network.

United Savings Credit Union was chosen because of its involvement with the local non-profit, the Jeremiah Program. This charitable organization supports single mothers and their children by providing access to safe and affordable housing, as well as life skills training. The credit union not only donated $2,500 to the organization, employees volunteered to serve meals and even babysat for mothers in need.

Sioux Falls FCU was chosen because of its outstanding charitable contributions made through its “Perky Coffee” sales. Perky Coffee is the credit union’s personalized coffee that is sold, with all proceeds donated to various community organizations. In 2018, nearly $17,000 was donated to the South Falls School District and The Banquet; while fundraising is ongoing for the VA Volunteer Services.
