ANN ARBOR, Mich.–For the eighth straight year, credit unions across the country celebrated CU Lunch Local by showing up and chowing down at locally-owned restaurants, according to Michigan Business Connection, which founded the event in 2012. CU Lunch Local has a mission of encouraging credit unions to eat out at local establishments on the third Tuesday of October to demonstrate the economic impact credit unions have in their local communities, the organization said.
“Credit unions have a rich tradition of supporting the communities they serve,” said Bill Beardsley, president/CEO of MBC. “CU Lunch Local is a fun and engaging way to build on that storied history and bring local businesses together while enjoying some delicious food.”
CU Lunch Local said this year, dozens of credit unions officially registered and celebrated their commitment to local businesses by eating at dozens of diners, delis, and doughnut shops throughout the United States on Oct. 15th.
