CHROME FCU Celebrating 50th

WASHINGTON, Penn. — CHROME Federal Credit Union is celebrating its 50th anniversary.

“Forged 50 years ago by the employees of the Washington Steel Corporation, CHROME has surpassed all expectations and now serves eight counties in southwestern Pennsylvania and has become an integral part of the Washington County community,” the credit union said.

Delivering the official proclamation, Washington County Commissioners Diana Irey Vaughan, Larry Maggi, and Nick Sherman visited CHROME FCU to proclaim April 13 as “CHROME Federal Credit Union Day.” The commissioners then enjoyed a tour of the CHROME Racetrack Road branch, chatted with employees, and posed for photographs.

Board members Bob Greek (Chair) along with Mary Ellen West and Ted Stubenbordt, and CHROME’s leadership team, including Robert Flanyak (CEO), Patty Morrissey, Jim Naser, Tracy Barnabi and Eric Kirk were also in attendance.

“This proclamation is a testament to the vision of our founders, the courage and dedication of our past and present volunteer Board of Directors, our employees, and to all the members of CHROME,” said Flanyak. “To be part of an organization that has served our communities for 50 years is a tremendous honor.”

CHROME said it is extremely active in the community and boasts 100% employee volunteerism.

"To have every employee volunteer to participate at community events reflects the credit union goal of giving back,” said Flanyak. “We are totally committed to being a banking force for good in our community.”

CHROME said it will celebrate their 50th Anniversary throughout the year through various community events, sponsorships, and donations. Just this past year CHROME received “Best of the Best” awards for Best Credit Union (third straight year) and Best Mortgage Lender (second consecutive year).
