WASHINGTON, Penn.–For the second year in a row, in the Observer Reporter’s Best of the Best Awards, CHROME won Best Credit Union and, for the first time, also claimed the first place spot for Best Mortgage Lender.
The contest hosts several categories in which residents of Washington and Greene counties collectively vote for their favorite businesses that reside within the communities.
With the holiday spirit in the air, the credit union collected toys for Neighbors 4 Neighbors and The Salvation Army. Combined, the organizations help more than 1,600 children find gifts under the tree for Christmas. CHROME donated iPads and helped create a system to help the Washington Salvation Army ease the process and maintain organization of their Treasures for Children Toy Drive.
Board members and employees lent manpower over the course of several days to get toys packed and distributed to the families. CEO Bob Flanyak also helped collect monetary donations by spending his time as a red kettle bell ringer.
In addition, students from Trinity High School in Washington, PA stopped by to paint a holiday mural on the branch’s wall of windows. The glass was gorgeously adorned with a scenic winter wonderland of gingerbread houses, snowmen, candy canes and abstract trees with wrapped gifts underneath.
